“Virtual Run” to be held February 11 to raise awareness for missing Sidney teacher

As most all Montanans know by now, Sherry Arnold, a school teacher  and avid runner from Sidney, MT is believed to have been abducted during an early morning run on January 7th.  Officials believe she has been killed, and almost 2 months later her body has yet to be found.

Arnold’s Cousin, Beth Risdon, who is also an avid runner and well known blogger for www.shutupandrun.net, has organized a Virtual Run to be held on February 11th to raise awareness to runners everywhere, and to show support for Arnold.  Risdon is offering race bibs (seen below) to be printed off and worn this Saturday. According to Risdon, Runner’s from all over the world are participating in the run.

Below are a few of the simple requests to runners Risdon shared on her blog:

  • Mark your calendars
  • Print out a running bib and pin it to your shirt
  • Gather your friends, your running club members, your families
  • GO. Run as far and as long as you want. Walk, hike, cycle, rollerblade if you don’t want to or can’t run.
  • Please share this on your blogs, Facebooks and Twitters
  • Keep it simple. Just run with Sherry on your minds and hearts. “

To download and print a running bib, or to read more about the Virtual Run please visit Risdon’s Blog.  Or you can follow along on the events’ Facebook page.

In Billings, Montana Cycling and Ski is organizing a Feb. 11 run. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and feature six-mile and three-mile runs along bike paths in the area. Walkers are welcome to participate. The store is at 824 Shiloh Crossing Boulevard.

406runnning.com is dedicated to supporting the Virtual Run in any way we can.  The  Montana running community needs to show their support and raise awareness of this tragic event.

Spread the word. Share on your Facebook, tell your friends, or comment on this post to let everyone know if you will be participating and how they can join you. We  encourage runners and walkers from all over the state to go out this weekend with Sherry Arnold in their thoughts.
