With the current abundance of cold, wind, snow, and darkness, Montanans have more excuses than ever to stay inside and cozy up next to the fire thought the winter months. A fun and wintery 5k Fun Run/Walk along Missoula’s Riverfront Trail System. This event is organized by Missoula Parks and Recreation. Register by January 22 to get a cozy long-sleeve T-shirt! This event will be hosted at the Homestake Lodge outside of Butte. The race incorporates a 5K run, 10k bike and 5k ski. All legs of the course are held on snow covered cross country ski trails. You may enter as a single competitor or in teams of two or three. The entry fee includes a chili lunch and day trail pass. Complete waxing facilities are available to competitors. After race showers are available, bring your own towel. Pre-Superbowl Run and Bowl. 2 mile or 4 mile run followed 1 game of bowling, Take 1 second off your time for every pin you knock down. Teams are selected at random. 33rd Froze Nose Free Fun Run, 5.4, 3, 1.1 mi, 9:00 AM, MSU Grant & 11th. Courses go out along Kagy, the furthest going through the Cherry subdivision. Get a handicap time for the March run and see if you can improve enough to win! Visitwww.winddrinkers.org to learn more
The Catchem If You Can 5K is a fun and festive event organized around Valentine’s Day Where the Ladies start First and the gentleman start 3 minutes later. Race proceeds benefit Hellgate High School Cross-country. Go to www.runwildmissoula.org for more info.
In it’s 33rd running, this popular half marathon attracts folks from all corners of the state. The course consists of a 13.1 mile lap around Seeley Lake on plowed roads. Icy patches likely.
